The Chardonnay is from the ‘Cemetery Block’ at the base of the Piccadilly Valley, cane-pruned vines on alluvial black sandy soils. This farm is run by Jenny and James Griggs who are the sixth generation to farm that block. The Semillon is from the Magpie Springs farm as above, while the Pinot Gris and Sangiovese are both from Robert Surmann’s vineyard in Totness. This as an assemblage of lost children, the pressing component of our best Chardonnay aged in oak, the pressings component of the Semillon that spent on month on skins, a hardcore component of Gris (saignéed and then two months on skins), and a kiss of life through the Sangiovese, which was carbonic fermented for five days and stored in inox.
Pink hues warp through the luminescent rose gold, like orchards and heritage roses. They flower elegantly on the backyard fence while violets play in the beds. The perfume delicately blooms into the atmosphere, capturing negative space and building beautiful feelings.
